Class 1

Welcome to Class 1

Welcome to the Class 1 page, where we share and celebrate our learning past and present so you can get a taste of what it's like to be a part of our class. It's also where you can find out key information about the exciting learning journey we are on and the adventures we plan on having.

We hope you enjoy your visit to our class page,

Mrs Karaboce, Mrs Clements and the Class 1 Team

Summer Term 2021

This term we are learning all about Castles, what they are, why they were made, who lived in them, what they ate and more. We will also explore the role of knights, who they were and how they protected Castles, to retelling and making our own stories. Then going onto looking at the knights or super heroes of today as well as learning through the children's interests across the 7 areas.

Please see the curriculum overview below for more details.

Homework - Daily practising of sounds and reading, from green words to ditties or books, this will really help reinforce their learning in school and get them off to the best start. In addition to this a homework menu has been shared via Seesaw and we would love you to choose 1 thing each week for you to do with your child and share what you have done by Friday each week.

PE days are on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The children should come into school in their school PE uniform with a plain black fleece or their normal school jumper/cardigan.

The children can now bring in their school bag and their reading book/diary should be in school every day.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Karaboce and Mrs Clements

So far this term we have designed our own family crests and turned them into shields and had fun retelling the story of George and the dragon. See the photographs below. We look forward to sharing more as the term progresses.

Welcome Back Everyone!

Thank you parents for all your hard work and continued support with your child's learning at home. We are so proud of how well the children have come back into school. They are settling back in, getting back into a routine and are happy to see their friends again.

This week we have had great fun with Science Week - talking about houses and recreating The Three Little Pigs' houses. Discovering how and why the Big Bad Wolf could blow them over or not, the windy weather this week played a good part in it too!

We also went on to experiment with other materials to find out if they would be suitable for making a house or if the Big Bad Wolf would be able to huff and puff and blow them away!

Home Learning - Spring Term 2021

Our topic this term is 'All About Me' and we are enjoying learning about ourselves, our families and the world around us. The children are accessing their learning from Seesaw, an educational platform where we can send out or assign their work and they can post photos, pictures, videos and recordings of what they have done. We are also using Zoom to catch up in the week, to play games, listen to stories, and to share and celebrate our work.

Our Words Of Encouragement

Kind words the children came up with at home and in school for when we find things hard, and to help us achieve our dreams and goals.

Learning conversations

Each day we write a little comment on what we have been learning so you can carry on the conversation with your child at home. Learning conversations are shared via the Seesaw learning platform at the beginning of each week. See an example below.

Read Write Inc. Phonics

Phonics lessons will be taught following the Read Write Inc. programme.

Please see the link below for useful information, videos, free electronic books and other resources available to support your child with their reading at home.

Reading books will be sent home weekly on a Monday, the children will start by having a book for you to read and share with them. When they are ready they will also have a book matched to their reading stage on the Read Write Inc. programme.
