Computing

Intent

Computing is a scientific area of study having deep links with mathematics and design technology and provides insight into both natural and artificial systems.

Our view of Computing at Aldeburh is that through developing a deep understanding in the principles of information and computation and how digital systems work, children will become responsible, competent, confident and therefore creative learners when they apply these key concepts to programming with a love for the subject.

Whilst computing science is taught across the school, children will have opportunities to progressively build on knowledge and understanding in each year group developing their skills with information technology to create programs through the enrichment of a range of mediums.

Computing fosters an attitude of exploration and investigation where algorithms, logic and problem solving is integral to learning the languages of computing. At Aldeburgh Computing is viewed to provide life skills nurtured and developed to allow children to become digitally literate in order to manipulate at a level that is suitable for their future workplace and allowing them to be active in their use of this in a digital world.

Computing science encompasses an everchanging and diverse technological world, for this reason, we have made it our intention to make Online- Safety core to the teaching of and learning in computing science.
